mix compost worms
Save shipping costs and order your worms right away with your Balkonton.
The worms you order from us consist of a mix of Dendrobena Veneta (also known as Eisenia hortensis, springers, European nightcrawler) and Eisania Fetida (the tiger worm, red wiggler, or fattening muscle).
You can NOT pick up the worms in Amsterdam. That is only the office address and the address where you can view the worm bins by appointment. The shipment is done from the worm grower in Drenthe where the worm bins are also in stock.

Mealworm manure
Throughout the Netherlands, mealworm farms are springing up like mushrooms. Now it turns out that mealworms make beautiful manure. As with worm manure, mealworm manure has a slow release. This means that the mealworm manure does not force itself on the plant, but is available when it is needed. In theory, you can grow a plant in mealworm manure without burning it.
Mealworm manure contains Chitin. Chitin has an antifungal and virus-killing effect.
This makes mealworm manure very suitable to use in the list of worm manure and lava flour.

Lava flour
Lava flour improves the structure and health of your soil
Lava flour is finely ground volcanic rock. It is rich in silicon in well-absorbable form for plants. Silicon increases the resistance of the crop and to drought, diseases and pests. In addition to Silicon, it contains 83 other minerals that together improve the fertility and health of your soil.
Together with organic matter from, for example, compost or worm droppings, lava flour ensures a good granular soil structure. As a result, clay soil becomes rougher and allows the water to pass through better. Sandy soil can retain nutrients and water better and peat soil is stabilized against degradation.
To be used for
- Weed control (helps well against moss and horsesaus, read more in this blog)
- Pest control (snails, lice, spreading over wet leaves)
- Natural fertilization (wet spraying after sprinkling or covering with worm manure)
- Diseases (spraying against fungal disease on boxwood)

- Improve the health of your compost worms and the quality of your worm compost.
