The worms you order from us consist of a mix of Dendrobena Veneta (also known as Eisenia hortensis, springers, European nightcrawler) and Eisania Fetida (the tiger worm, red wiggler, or fattening muscle).
You can NOT pick up the worms in Amsterdam. That is only the office address and the address where you can view the worm bins by appointment. The shipment is done from the worm grower in Drenthe where the worm bins are also in stock.

Worm crate

This is a simple model that works with horizontal composting: With just the base you can already compost. No hassle with layers and compartments. When the crate is almost full, place the food scraps all the way on one side. This lures the worms out of the compost. After which you remove the compost and can add new waste again.
If you are with three or more people, order an extra set-up box. So that you can lure the worms from the base bin to the extra container. Then empty the basic bin and move the worms from the extra bin to the base bin again.
Super simple assembly: screw the legs underneath with the 4 included Phillips head screws and you’re ready to compost.
Delivery time 3 to 4 working days via GLS. If the worms ordered at the same time arrive earlier, you can store them in a cool place.

Growing soil
€11,00 inc. BTW Add to cartGrowing soil is a mixture of, among other things, leaf compost, lava flour cellulose and a small amount of peat. Cellulose is a polysaccharide that is made by almost all plants (especially trees). The cellulose serves as food for the worms. There are only natural additives in the soil.
The growing soil is specially formulated for worm growers. The composition ensures that the worms grow well and can lay cocoons. You can put a layer of growing soil in your worm bin when you start the worm bin. But it is also useful when you go on holiday. With a large layer of breeding soil, the worms can move forward 1 to 2 weeks without new feed.
If you notice that your worms have had a hard time, for example due to the heat, give them a boost with a new layer of growing soil. Empty one of your compost rings, fill it with growing soil and carefully place the still living worms and cocoons in the beam with the growing soil. You can either empty the other rings (if it stinks), or just leave them alone and see what happens. In stressful situations, worms often lay extra eggs. So it would be quite possible that in those bins in a few weeks it will be teeming with baby worms.

Lava flour is finely ground volcanic rock. It is rich in silicon in well-absorbable form for plants. Silicon increases the resistance of the crop and to drought, diseases and pests. In addition to Silicon, it contains 83 other minerals that together improve the fertility and health of your soil.
Together with organic matter from, for example, compost or worm droppings, lava flour ensures a good granular soil structure. As a result, clay soil becomes rougher and allows the water to pass through better. Sandy soil can retain nutrients and water better and peat soil is stabilized against degradation.
